overlapping directories error

User launches a backup or archive plan. The plan aborts with the above error message. What happened?

While it is possible to run more than one backup or archive job in Presstore at a time, what is not possible is to run more than one job at a time that both save the same folder or subfolder concurrently. For instance, let's say the user launched a job that is archiving folder /Volumes/data. The user then tries to launch a second archive job that archives /Volumes/data/folder1. This would not work, as 'folder1' is a subfolder of folder 'data' - and that one is already being archived by the first plan. The reason why this doesn't work is that the indexer thread of the first job already has a lock on that part of the index database. The second job therefore can't get a lock on that same part of the database - and the second job has to be aborted.

Solution: Finish the first job, then run the second job.

I have seen this error when only one job was running. Any explanations?

There must have been another active job. We would need to see the logs in order to be able to find out what happened. In case like that, please open a support ticket.
