Automatically backing up P5 indexes, logs & configuration

Great article on how to automate backing up the P5 indexes, logs & configuration database by Mike Szumlinski:

We cannot stress enough how important it is to backup your indexes and configuration. Especially the archive indexes, as those do not get backed up to tape. While it is possible to recover the P5 server's configuration and backup indexes from tape, the time to recover from a disaster will be substantially shorter if you have a copy of all this information on disk.

For a video that discusses how to perform a bare metal recovery of a P5 server, please see here: '8. Backup Module - Advanced' of the P5 masterclass series of videos. Please fast forward to 14:00 mins into the video.

P5.5 addendum:

Starting with P5.5, it is possible to automatically backup archive indices. To do so, login to P5 > Archive > Advanced Options > Manage Indexes... Double-click on the archive index for which you would like to enable database backups. In the database settings window, tick the checkbox to enable backups, select the P5 client and the folder where you would like your backups to be stored, set a start time and apply the changes. The archive index will be backed up on a daily basis.

Is there a reason why the P5 Archive backup is not implemented into P5 as a choice in config?

We're planning to include the option to backup an archive index in the near future. The problem is that contrary to backups, we could only save an archive index in its entirety. If we did that at the end of every archive job, it would be a very time and tape consuming process.
