Error: target cannot check ctime's: /Volumes/target

When Synchronizing to a file system which does not support extended attributes, the Sync job will fail with the error

"target cannot check ctime's: /Volumes/targetfilesystem"

The reason for this error is a bit subtle:

The ctime cannot be set or modified, so in order to compare the ctime of the source file with the target, P5 saves the ctime as extended attribute on the target file. In case the target does not support extended attributes,

the ctime comparison must be turned off in order to synchronize files to that filesystem .

That can be achieved by unmarking the switch

Additional Options -> Expert settings -> "Owner and Protection Changes"

in the Synchronize Plan.
