Understanding Previews of Online Files
Posted by Sven Koester, Last modified by Andre Kuehnemund on 22 July 2011 12:23
When browsing with the PresSTORE GUI in the file systems, previews are generated on those systems that support previews. During browsing in the filesystem, the previews are visible when changinging to the Gallery View. That means, PresSTORE generates previews and stores them in an online area just like it does when creating archive previews.

The following article list the preconditions for previews:
How PresSTORE creates previews

In detail, every time someone visits a folder via the PresSTORE GUI, PresSTORE attempts to create on-line previews and cache that info in the index/online directory. This behavior will require disk space, furthermore previews require time, namely when browsing in a huge image folder. It is possible to disable automatic previews for file system browsing. To do so:

Edit the file conf\lexxsrv.8000 in the PressSTORE directory and add the following lines:
      ns_section ns/server/$server/module/lexxtree_hfs
      ns_param previewSize 0
      ns_param movieLength 0

Then restart the PresSTORE server by excuting
      sudo /usr/local/aw/stop-server
      sudo /usr/local/aw/start-server
